The town and commune Łobez are located in the central part of Western Pomerania on the Rega River. Two transport routes meet here: Szczecin - Gdańsk railway and Gorzów Wielkopolski - Kołobrzeg highway. Short distances to the Baltic Sea (78 kilometers to Kołobrzeg) and the western border (100 kilometers to Szczecin an d 120 km to Kołbaskowo) favour farming and touristic contacts. The area of 228 sq km is inhabited by 15.000 people including 11.000 living in the sole town. Neighbouring communes are Świdwin, Brzeżno, Drawsko Pom., Węgorzyno, Radowo Małe i Resko.
