STRONG SIDES OF THE COMMUNE
 
HORSES

Lobez is known in Poland and abroad thanks to horses bred in the Stallion Stud in Swietoborzec existing since 1876. Besides the breeding activity it organises numerous horse riding events, fox hunting and driving carts. Indoor riding stables and a hippodrome on the area of the Stud and the marked out over the beautiful land create perfect conditions for trips on horseback and for lessons of horse riding. The Stud offers the possibility of longer stays and horse riding holidays. Horse riding is also possible in Bonin, 3 km from Lobez, where there are: a training establishment of trotters and private stables.

OSTRICHES

Privately owned farms breeding exotic animals as ostriches or llamas
and even tortoises are another attraction of Lobez.



ARCHEOLOGICAL MONUMENTS


In the commune there are numerous archeological discoveries with the most interesting in Lobez - Swietoborzec and Karwowo. The objects display defensive characteristics: Lobez - Swietoborzec a settlment of the tribe governor situated south of the town, between the Rega river and Miejskie Lake; a preserved 3-4 m high wall and a visible moat - used for purposes of defending tribal borders.

NATURE

It is the biggest treasure and advantage of the Lobez Land. Untouched by urbanisation areas, wild backwoods, lakes, ponds, swamps and ranges - all of it are waiting for visitors to the Lobez Commune. Picturesque areas are friendly for hiking, cycling and horse-riding. In order to show wholly and use attractions of our Land there are trails for walkers, cyclists and horse-riding fans.

Forest Land

The Lobez Land as the whole Pomerania is characterized by the richness of flora and fauna species which are not met somewhere else in Poland. This variety delights and amazes visitors from other parts of our country. There are relatively lots of woods, more than an average percentage in Poland. These are not compact areas but clumps of trees spread along the whole commune - mostly near rivers and lakes which makes the region more attractive for tourists. The rarity for hunters there are rich hunting areas where they can come across european deers, roe-deers, wild boars and water birds. The great value of Lobez forests there are blackberries, raspberries and mushrooms. During weather permitting the mushrooming season lasts from June until late autumn.

Aged Trees

Relatively many trees of tremendous sizes have been preserved in the Lobez commune. Old trees can be found in numerous manor parks in villages - for instance in Zachelmie (lime-tree which has 700cm i girth), in Zajezierze. Aged trees also along the roads - the most interesting lines are: old lime-trees along the road to Zachelmie-Meszne, huge old oaks in Bonin and at buildings - yew-trees in Belczna, an oak in Karwowo.

Lakes and Ponds

Hidden among forests, lakes and ponds are the attraction both for water sports fans and fishermen. On the Karwowo Lake there are fabulous conditions to relax. Situated in the Rega valley the Karwowo Lake gives the opportunities for recreation and resting. Watering place with a stage, umbrella roofs, camping-site and first of all clean water and nature will privide every tourist unforgettable dreams. Attention should be paid to the lobelia Chelm Lake, which is valuable nature area. Lake lobelia is an endangered, protected species included in the Polish Red Book of Plants. Charming lake is located among oak and pine forests near Unimie. Interesting lakes are also: Klepnica - the biggest in the commune, Nowe Zajezierze - artificial (man-made), Dybrzno (Miejske), Moszczenica, Chelm and Bialy Zdroj.

Along the Rega River

Flowing through the commune the Rega river, 179 km long, begins in Drawsko Lake District in forests 177,5 m above sea level high. Annualy there are held canoeing rallies "Along the Rega River to the Baltic Sea", which start on the old Rega in Tarnowo Lobeskie. Picturesque the Rega valley with high, steep slopes, reaching even 50 m, is covered with old woods. At the border of Przyborze from a high forestless bank a beautiful panorama of the river valley widespreads. One can came across paragliders.
