THE COMMUNITY OF DĘBOWIEC

At present Gmina Dębowiec consists of seven villages, with the total of 5.200 inhabitants and the area of ca. 43 km2. Arable land constitutes over 50% of the Gmina, which determines the farming profile of this area. A major share of the land is taken as well by forests and groves, where one may meet deer, hares, wild bores, foxes, pheasants and a variety of wild duck species. While the kilometres of bonds in the valley of the Knajka River foster the fish farming, for which the Gmina has been famous for a few centuries. The area of Simoradz and Dębowiec is also well known for the rich
natural gas resources as well as the iodine-bromine brines. At the
beginning of the 20th century methane deposits were discovered here.
After WW2, in 1946, geological works were continued, and thus new
deposits were found. Some of them have been in operation until now.
In 1963 a saline was started in Dębowiec for production of so-called
Zabłocka iodine-bromine salt, with the chemical composition useful
in the treatment of limb diseases, respiratory system or joints
rehabilitation.
The Gmina may be also a good tourist platform to visit attractive
places of the Silesian Beskid Mountains. The vicinity of the border
crossing in Cieszyn – Boguszowice and the planned expressway in
the direction of Bielsko-Biała and Cracow give opportunities for
investing in road traffic infrastructure, including hotel-catering
facilities. The Gmina spatial development plans in the vicinity
of this communication South-North European route, provide possibility
of locating in this zone also other business activity, including
production activity with a particular level of noxiousness. While the beautifully situated, undeveloped land, provides an attractive
potential for constructing a golf course. Potential investors shall
obtain from the Gmina any possible support in this respect .
