The community is situated in east part of the region on the main
road connecting Berlin - Szczecin and Gdańsk -Kaliningrad. It lies
at a distance of 100 km from Gdańsk, 20 km from Lębork, and 30 km
from Słupsk. It is divided in to 21 village administrations, and
is in character a typical agricultural community. It belongs to
the Association of Euroregional Baltic Communities, the Polish Union
of Agricultural Communities, the Association of Pomeranian Agricultural
Communities, The Association of Town and Riverside areas of the
Słupia and Łupawa rivers.
The Community produces coal, wood and wood products (such as, furniture,
pallets etc.), garden soil and alcoholic spirits. The area is also
known for its fine bakeries and producers of delicious, traditional
Polish sausage.
Potegowo's Community has a water network coverage of 95%, a sewage
system extending over 62% of its area, and 11 sewage treatment plants.
Unemployment is high. The main E6 highway, which runs across the
community is to be rebuilt. The Community has its own railway station
and sidings. There are plans to build a second line on the Stargard
Szczeciński - Gdańsk route.
