The town of Terespol
is situated on the left Bug River, covers the area of 10,2 sq. km,
and has 6200 inhabitants. It is located within the borders of the
Bug Area of the Protected Landscape with typical near-the-river
meadows and natural pastures. It is situated on an important European
transport course: the Paris-Berlin-Warsow-Terespol-Brześć-Mińsk-
Moscow route (road E-30 and railway line E-20).
Terespol expenences rapid growth in trade (particularly wholesale),
forwarding and transport services as well as the processing of food
and farm produce. The development of the town is strongly determined
by three border crossing in Terespol and the road crossing for TIR
trucks in Koroszczyn.
There are 210 registered businesses in
Terespol. The most important of them are: GS “Sch” and the Border
Guards. The municipal authorities would gladly support the location
of larger service facilities, food processing plants, storehouses,
warehouses and other environment friendly enterprises. One of
the most favourite investments would be furniture factories. The
town is a thriving place where the past is not forgorren but where
people live aware of their future chances and challenges. It is
typical border community open to the influence of various cultures
and traditions. If there is any place that could be described
as a mosaic of spol. Its location determines its character and
its habits. It has always been like that and it will be even more
so in the future.
The expected European Union’s expansion will cause the border
along teh Bug to become its eastern gateway. This is strategic
opportunity for the town to develop further, and a lucrative challenge
to investors, as Terespol will become an ideal place in which
to from a base for multifarious industrial activity and to expand
services, trade, industry and tourism.
